Proreso School

Proreso

Proreso School is located near Bunia in the Democratic Republic of Congo and caters especially, but not exclusively, for children who are deaf. Each deaf child brings along a hearing sibling who also learns sign language and who can then translate conversations back home.

Having started in a tiny one-roomed building, the primary school occupied several sites before being able to move onto its own site in 2012. Several of the school’s current teachers and staff are former pupils and/or have disabilities themselves. The house parents working in the school’s dormitories, Esperance and Buki, have visual and hearing impairments, respectively.

Accomplish supports the school with food costs and a grant towards teachers' salaries. Since the school is bursting at the seams, we have also provided a grant to purchase urgently-needed furniture.

Neema
Neema's story

Accomplish also supports Neema, a single leg amputee who lives in the Democratic Republic of Congo. An accomplish donor has financed her education, and Accomplish also assisted with an operation for a prosthetic leg.
