During our recent visit to the RAP-CD Primary School, visiting dentist Rob Dobson was able to give a free check-up to 90 of the students. The kids each received a toothbrush and toothpaste along with a lesson on how to brush their teeth effectively. The experience proved so popular that the staff joined in and had their teeth checked too!
The importance of these opportunistic check-ups cannot be overestimated. Problems can be identified early and treated, often preventing years of pain and expensive treatments.
This is yet another example of how the RAP-CD primary school has become a focal point for the holistic care of disabled children in the region. It also is a hub for Motivation Uganda, a charity that provides and fits specialist seats and wheelchairs, and one of the SADICH Epilepsy clinics. It is this cooperation amongst so many groups providing help to disabled children that has made this school an award-winning centre of excellence.
